Congratulations to team Red Fox Gore-Tex with successful finish and 9th place in Patagonia Expedition Race 2012!
Maria: "Here we go! One day later than planned cruise boat loaded with finishers reached Punta Arenas. It's really hard to imagine how far we were- travelling from the finish took us nearly two days. Race is absolutely amazing. If you, guys, still do not have plans for the next February strongly recommended! The best race I've ever done! Absolutely exited."
Evening Thu 23 Feb:
Finish after 9.5 days of constant racing! All 10 teams are on the finish line! RedFox Gore-Tex team place is unclear yet, but we looking forward to hear from competitors themselves!!!
20:47 Wed 22 Feb:
Day#8.5: After 8.5 days team RedFox Gore-Tex managed to reach end of endless trekking and having their well deserved rest before kayak stage take off today morning. All ten teams left are now waiting for green light to final paddle! Hopefully nice, easy and smooth 43km as it could be after 8.5 days?
9:05 Tue 21 Feb:
Day#7: Ok, CP#18 reached yesterday 9AM, which makes me hope the team will finish trekking today reach next kayaking stage. All other teams stay at CP#19 waiting for green light from Navy to paddle to the finish
15:51 Sun 19 Feb:
Day#6: 5,5 days racing, the team made it to CP#15, currently ranked 9th!
3:00 AM Sat 18 Feb:
Day#5: team RedFox Gore-Tex made to CP#13, currently ranked 11th. Team is now on the biggest and toughest 120km trekking! Keep the fingers crossed and they will made it!
3:00 AM Fri 17 Feb:
Day#3: Team managed to finish long trekking and now, three days after the start, approximately 2/5 of the race is done! Guys keep up we need you at the finish line!!!
19:00 Thu 16 Feb:
Day#3: Team RedFox Gore-Tex got to CP#7, currently 11th. Solid effort, keep your speed up! By now the team should already be on their bikes heading to the next monster trek. Monster trek time forecasted to be up to 2.5 to 3 days for leading teams! While Adidas-Terrex is building up their lead, most of the teams struggling to finish first trekking before night.
2:30 AM Wed 15 Feb:
Day #2: Team RedFox Gore-Tex now on the first long trekking, got passed by couple of teams and according to current rankings goes 9th at CP#6.Heads up guys!!! There were a rumors that trekking was very hard especially during the cold night. Solid navigation skills were crucial to progress well.
2:30 AM Tue 14 Feb:
Day#1: First 24 hours are over, and team RedFox Gore-Tex currently ranked 5th having their rest at CP#4, which will remain dark zone till dawn. In themorning teams will be paddling through 20k open water section of Magellan strait to CP#5. Refer to the race overview map below for the CP positions.

Ok finally the dreams come true, and Maria is off to the "Last Wild Race" with the team Red Fox Gore-tex. This year Patagonia Expedition race has it's10th anniversary edition with 20 teams racing:
"Decades of exploring the vast wilderness of Chilean Patagonia, innumerable explorations and nine previous events have led us to the 10th Anniversary ofthe PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE. 600 kilometers of adventure! This upcoming edition will amaze competitors, spectators, attending journalists andrace staff more than ever before. It will take 20 carefully selected international teams over unnamed mountains, through narrow fjords and along imposingglaciers before finishing at the southernmost point of the Americas
The 2012 course will begin by returning the race to its birthplace, Tierra del Fuego, before embarking on the most breathtaking route in the race’shistory. As racers follow in the footsteps of the first explorers of the region they will cross the Wildlife Conservation Society’s 300,000ha reserve called“Karukinka”, the Darwin Range, the Beagle Channel and much more of unknown land, before finishing just 650 kilometers north of Antarctica. This routeplans to provide spectacular scenery and unprecedented obstacles as teams fight their way to the end of the world."
