Grampians Challenge  2016 updates: new date is announced

Previously postponed Grampians Challenge race has finally got a new date. 27th of November is now confirmed with Parks Victoria. All previous entries are  transferred to the new date and registration is open again for those who could not make a previous date but interested to take part 27th of November.

Originally scheduled for 16th of September  classic multisport race Grampians Challenge was cancelled due to extreme floods in the Northern Grampians.

It looks like we are in for a wet October so it would be better to aim for end of November. Fingers crossed there are no further issues between now and then”, said Tammy Schoo, Grampians National park ranger.

“We are hoping to bring on even better event in November, it is a shame we had to cancel it for the original date and now clash with other events, but nothing what we can do against mother-nature” said Maria Plyashechko, event coordinator.

The course will be the same as announced originally with the start at Zumsteins picnic ground, 9km run  to the Wartook lake via famous Mackenzie falls, 10 km paddle around the lake and spectacular 36 km mtb loop around the Wartook lake with the finish at Zumsteins picnic ground.

“We are hoping most of participants will still be able to make it on a new date,  it should be a great event”, said Serge Kurov, event director.
