Peak Adventure Junkie in China Day 2

26-28 of April Team Peak Adventure Junkie is racing in Chinese Baise Leye Outdoor Quest.

Day 2 went good. We finished 5th after Team Thule (France, NZ, Sweden), FJS (Sweden) and MoxieGear /Nuun Australia and Red Bull China. But then Red Bull was penalised by 6 minutes for leaving rest area earlier than they had to, so in final list of results we supposed to be 4th.

Team worked very well. Everyone stayed strong, tough without big ups and downs.

First, we had a 1.5 hour terrible bus trip to the start (during this kind of trips me (Maria) usually think, that I would rather ride my bike here).

Start was at around 8.40 am with 10 km paddle on the lake that turned to be 7, unfortunately for us as we were in the first bunch of boats (well, it is better say it was train of 6 boats sitting one after another the whole way) and did really good.

So we left transition area on respectable 2nd position behind other Aussie team Moxie Gear /Nuun.

After the paddle we headed off to 30km mountain bike leg and were pretty quickly passed by Sweds and Thule.

Ride went dramatic for couple of teams: Moxies got a flat twice and Thule's girl Mimi crashed in downhill.

After the ride we had a 18 km run with Tyrollean traverse  at the end. Run was pretty tough and we were caught by Red Bull, who traditionally are very strong runners.

Day 3

Tomorrow is the last day of the race. We are going to start with 30 km ride with split start, then it's hard 21 km run with not much of elevation gain but as everything hurt at this stage -nothing worse than flat run. After is a short 10 km paddle and that's it for this time.
